Ballpark Game Plan: Detroit Tiger & Comerica Park

Parking & Transportation:

The Tigers do not own their own parking. Instead, they recommend using ParkWhiz.

Tailgating is allowed in parking lots operated by Olympia Parking.

Oversized vehicle: No oversized vehicle parking is allowed in parking lots. However, there may be some space available on the Fischer Service Drive.

There are several public transportation options for Comerica Park. Q-Line is a 6.6 mile circulating streetcar that stops at Comerica. There are also several bus routes. Fans can find more information here.

Stadium Tours:

Comerica Park tours are only available by private arrangement.

General Information:

Bags: Comerica Park has a no bag policy. Other than diaper bags, breast pumps, and medically required bags, the park only allows bags smaller than 4” x 6” x 1.5”. No lockers are available.

Food & Beverages: No outside food is permitted. Fans may bring in one, factory-sealed plastic bottle of unflavored water.

Cashless transactions: All transactions are cashless.

Signs: Signs are permitted if they are baseball-related, don’t block views, interfere with the game, contain advertising, or contain offensive materials. They must also be 11” x 17” or smaller, utilize only cloth, paper, or other soft materials (no wood or metal), and may be displayed only before, after, or in between innings during the game.

Foul Balls: Fans may keep foul balls, as long as they don’t interfere with play or enter the playing area to retrieve them.

Gates: Gates open 2 hours and 20 minutes prior to first pitch.

Cameras: Cameras and video cameras are permitted. Fans may not use professional lenses, tripods, unipods, monopods, or selfie sticks.

Umbrellas: Collapsible umbrellas are permitted.

Where to Sit:

For shade, pick seats on the first base line. Try for lower baseline box seats in sections 112 to 114. They are also a good value for the price. You can also try the upper box right field sections (Sections 216 to 219) for a less expensive price.

If you aren’t on a tight budget, try for Infield Box seats (Sections 118 – 137). If those aren’t available, try for Outfield Box seats in Sections 114, 116, 117, 138, or 139.

The Tigers Den (Section 120 – 135) offers cushioned, wooden chairs, wait-service, and an exclusive menu. They have a good view but aren’t necessarily the closest seats to the action. Still, if they are available, they make for a special ballpark experience.

The best value, according to Ballpark E-Guides, are the Upper Club seats. They are relatively affordable, wider, with a nice view of the action. They are in the first few rows of Sections 321 through 333.

For an inexpensive option, try Kaline’s Corner, Sections 107 – 111, behind the right foul pole. These are decent seats, especially if you can find tickets for the lower rows. Another option is the Bleachers in Sections 102 – 106. (Avoid Section 101.)

Avoid Section 115, Lower Baseline Box, and most of the upper sections.

Food:

• In 2023, Comerica Park added a popular Detroit dish, Shawarma Fries, to the menu. Try chicken shawarma on top of fries with garlic sauce, romaine lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and hummus. (Comerica Big Cat Court)
• Shawarma also appears in eggrolls courtesy of Southwest Detroit’s famous food truck alongside I-75. (Comerica Tiger Den or Beer Hall)
• Other new favorites include the Sonoran Hot Dog from Taqueria El Rey and the bacon cheeseburger sliders from Green Dot Stables. The Sonoran is a hot dog wrapped in bacon and topped with beans, pico de gallo, and cotija cheese. (Miller Lite Market, Section 149) The sliders are best served with truffle and herb fries and kale salad. (Green Dot Stables, Section 143)
• Ballpark E-Guides also suggests enjoying a sit-down meal at Comerica Park, which has several restaurants with robust menus. They recommend The Corner Tap Room or The Beer Hall.
• Outside the ballpark, Ballpark Chasers on Facebook recommend Buddy’s for pizza.

First Time Visitors:

Comerica Park offers First Game Certificate at the Guest Services Offices near Sections 131, 210, 330, and by the Rocket Mortgage Entry.

Autographs:

Autographs are allowed.

Other Stadium Tips & Highlights:

Miller Lite sponsors the Detroit Tigers’ designated driver program. Sign up on the MLB Ballpark app and receive a free complimentary soft drink from Big League Grill. You will also be eligible to receive a Designated Driver prize announced during the game.

Take a spin on the Hi-Chew Carousel, located in the Comerica Bank Big Cat Court next to the Comerica Entry. For $2 per person per ride, you can enjoy a ride on a one-of-a-kind carousel featuring decorative tigers. You can also take a spin on the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel in the Brushfire Grill, behind Section 131. Rides are $2 per person. You can also check out the batting cage and speed pitch area in Section 106.

As you enter the Comerica Bank Entry, look for the statue honoring announcer Ernie Harwell. In left field, look for statues of Willie Horton, Ty Cobb, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg, Hal Newhouser, and Al Kaline. Then, stroll through the concourses for a Tigers history lesson. There are displays for every decade of history.

When the Tigers score a home run, keep an eye on the scoreboard. The tigers’ eyes will light up!

The Tigers host fireworks after every Friday night home game from late may until the end of September.
