How to get the Master Ball in Pokémon GO
You can get the Master Ball in Pokémon GO as a reward for completing the free special research called Let’s GO. The last part of the special research will be available on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
This free special research will automatically be added to the Research tab if you log into the game before June 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time. This means that you have until then to activate the research and complete all of its tasks before you receive the coveted Master Ball.
As in the mainline games, the Master Ball is the best Poké Ball of all: it never misses. It always catches the Pokémon it is thrown at. In Pokémon GO, the Master Ball can be used in the following ways:
- Can be used with any wild Pokémon.
- Can be used with any Pokémon that appears when you use Lure Modules.
- Can be used on any Pokémon that appears when you use Incense or Daily Adventure Incense.
- Can be used on any Pokémon defeated in Raid Battles.
We recommend saving the Master Ball for very difficult-to-capture and rare Pokémon, such as Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres.
For now, Niantic has hinted that there may be more ways to get the Master Ball in the future, though in the short term, the only way to get the Master Ball in Pokémon GO is through the Let’s Go Special Research.
