Desy Safán-Gerard, Ph.D

Supervising and Training Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC). I have a PhD in psychology from UCLA (1974) and I became a psychoanalyst at the PCC some years later. I have nearly 40 years experience treating individuals, couples and groups. I work with creative people in various fields, visual arts, science, music and performing arts. Being also a painter enables me to understand the creative process and help creative people achieve their full potential. As a native of Chile,I am fluent in Spanish. I have written, presented and published clinical papers on various forms of psychopathology, and on the creative process. I also run a mixed therapy group of up to 8 members that meets once a week for 1 1/2 hours. Freedom of experience and expression is the main goal. The focus is on the way members respond to each other, which leads to an appreciation of the value of their free expression.…
