Kaffeehaus Riquet

The location and ambiance of this coffeehouse are wonderful. The old architecture is beautiful. Me and Hubby arrived looking for a hot drink out of the cold. Although we did not have the intention to eat, we noticed that the bakery case was a little bare. The server gave us the drink menu, and no food menu. Our chai latte was good, and it was fun sitting at the big picture window watching the Leipzig world go by.

This is a lovely historic coffeehouse in a great location in Leipzig. While there are some lunch items on the menu, I'd recommend it for breakfast or dessert.. and of course, coffee! We sat on the second floor, which had a great view outside. The building is old and has a great vibe to it. The service was friendly and attentive. Our food was fresh and tasty, typical coffeehouse fare. We did not try any of the cakes in the pastry display, but they looked amazing and it feels like a missed opportunity.

Definitely check out the architecture when going in or out.

We practiced our German here and the staff were very kind to us.
Mango has become quite popular in German baking and this cake was delicious. Creamy, light, fluffy and the most delicate mango flavor. Sad to be so far away, and not be able to have it again!

Wonderful German coffee house in Leipzig. Original ornate wooden carvings in an art deco style. The entrance has two large golden elephants heads on the outside.

Being a kaffehaus, this is a place for coffee. Came here with whilst on business. It took a little while to get served, but we managed to get a couple of cappuccinos, which cost about €5-6 Not to shabby considering the opulent surroundings.

The waitress we had didn't speak that much English, but they seemed friendly and we managed to get and pay the bill with little issue.

Certainly worth a repeat visit.
