Kristin Kreuk Joins Jack Reacher Series at Amazon in Reunion With Former Smallville Co-Star Alan Ritchson
Less than three months after Burden of Truth‘s cancellation, Kristin Kreuk has secured her next TV gig — a role in Amazon Prime’s Jack Reacher series (opposite her former Smallville co-star Alan Ritchson!).
In Lee Child’s best-selling Jack Reacher novels, the towering, hulking title character (played here by Ritchson) is a former military policeman who now roams the United States taking odd jobs. Season 1 of the Amazon series — which will be titled, simply, Reacher — will be based on the first book, 1997’s Killing Floor.
Kreuk — whose extensive TV resume also includes Beauty & the Beast — will play Charlie, a refined former debutante who is living the Country Club life with her husband Hubble (Good Witch‘s Marc Bendavid), but who is much tougher than she appears.
Ritchson recurred on Smallville as Aquaman/Arthur Curry, while Kreuk starred as, of course, Lana Lang.
Meanwhile, What We Do in the Shadows‘ Harvey Guillén is also joining the Reacher ensemble as Jasper, the local medical examiner who is suddenly overwhelmed and terrified by multiple murders in his small town.
Other casting additions include Willie C. Carpenter (Devious Maids) as the town barber, Currie Graham (The Rookie) as a beloved longtime resident with a dark side, and Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Young Reacher.
They all join the previously cast Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie), Willa Fitzgerald (Scream) and Bruce McGill (Rizzoli & Isles).
Nick Santora (Scorpion) is attached to write and serve as showrunner; Child is also an EP.

This is sounding more and more like a CW spin on Reacher. Outside of Bruce McGill and Currie Graham there’s not a lot to instil confidence so far that we’ll get a faithful take on the books.
(Happy to be proved wrong when it airs, but Kreuk is a pretty dreadful actress. Just my opinion, clearly she has fans)

Kreuk was terrible on ‘Smallville’ but amazing on ‘Burden of Truth.’
She was pretty good on the later seasons of Smallville

So glad Maria Sten is part of the cast otherwise I wouldn’t have any interest.
I don’t actually think they had any scenes together on Smallville and he was only in a few episodes so is it really accurate to call them co-stars? Does this mean Ritchson is leaving Titans?
they did have scenes together, in Aquaman’s Smallville (S4) debut when he saves Lois after, yes, another Head bump, he and Lana help her go to….well I guess get medical attention,
And I think they had another together at the Talon
Honestly, not a fan… I loved Smallville, watched up to the end, but Lana was my least favorite character on the show.

I’m looking forward to this one. I couldn’t watch the Reacher movies because I read the books and Reacher is nothing like Tom Cruise. This one has a better casting as Reacher so I will take a look at it.
Same – Tom Cruise is not the Jack Reacher in my head or in the books. I was so surprised that Lee Child approved his casting but maybe he figured TC would get people into seats. I haven’t been able to read another Reacher book since because now I picture TC who I’m not a fan of. Hopefully this new series will change that.
Now that you mention it I never read another Reacher book after TC’s casting either.
I know and it’s so annoying. That’s why you need the movie before the books rather than the other way around which is hard considering so many movies are based on books.🤷♀️
IIRC Cruise (or ‘his people’) acquired the Film Rights…ostensibly as Producers, so there was only so much Child could say without risking the Golden Goose once Cruise cast himself as the lead…
while the Cruise Film introduced me to the franchise I tend to see Reacher in my head as somewhere between Dolph Lundgren and Joe Manganiello (I’ve read every book in the series since the first movie came out, and once caught up usually within a month of release)
Alexander Skarsgard would have made a fantastic and believable Reacher. He has the acting creds, the blond look and the height at 6’4.5″
Hey, I loved the books ( well all but 3) and , though sure Tom isn’t the right height, the first Reacher movie nailed it, storywise,. Have watched it multiple times.
Second one not so, but the first is worth a try, if you can move on from your “Tom ain’t my Jack” methinks you’ll have fun.
My dad reads the Jack Reacher books and didn’t like Cruise as Reacher either. Said he didn’t match the description of the character. I have never read a Reacher book and liked Tom Cruise in the movies.
Now we’re talking!! Love KK since smallville. She was always the highlight of that show.

Ritchson is an interesting choice for Reacher. At least he’s over 6 feet tall, but he’s not exactly an acting dynamo. That being said, being a great actor is not necessarily required for an action role like this.

Please keep this series PG13 level! One of the best things about Jack Reacher is that he uses his brains as well as his brawn. He likes to use a vocabulary that reflects that. The books are clean enough that I don’t feel like I have to read them through a filter. I really appreciate that about Lee Child’s writing!

I can’t wait for the new Jack Reacher show. I have loved his kick-ass character in Lee Childs’ books. I also love, merely from the photos, of the actor playing Reacher. Thank God is isn’t Tom Cruise. He is NOT Jack Reacher.
Can’t wait to watch every single show Kristin Kreuk performs on. She is the best. Love her.

Don’t recall a female having a major role in multiple books, other than the “doesn’t like to be touched” lady.
I’m really looking forward to this series.
While I’m more a reader than a watcher, I was introduced to the character by the Tom Cruise films, so I didn’t have the “that’s not what Reacher looks like” problem. But given how much emphasis the books put on Reacher’s size, etc., I’m glad the new adaptation is more like the character.
If they’d done it, say, 20 years ago, I could see Clancy Brown in the title role.
