Escher Relativity
In order to inspire my understanding of spaces, perspective, and the use of abstract elements within a visual narrative, I embarked on the exercise of creating an imaginary environment using three-dimensional representation. Exploring the works of the artist M.C. Escher has been an incredibly fascinating and enriching experience for me, leading me to develop a project that pays homage to one of his most well-known creations.

One of Escher's lithographs, called "Relativity," created in 1953, particularly caught my attention. In this piece, Escher explores concepts that are central to his body of work, such as imaginary perspectives and impossible geometries. In "Relativity," he presents an architecture that seems to defy any fixed notion of direction, lacking a clear orientation of North or South. Through this artwork, Escher masterfully captures and narrates the essence of the principle that "man is the measure of all things," wherein the truths held by each individual depicted in the artwork are only valid within their specific circumstances. An intriguing aspect of the piece is the perception that someone climbing a ladder is simultaneously descending it when viewed from a different perspective.
