Curicó Mountains Hiking Tour
Curicó Mountains Hiking Tour
When you make your reservation, you can choose one of the following hiking routes in the Andes. In both cases, the itinerary lasts between 3 and 4 hours and starts at 9:30 am at the Tierras Bayas refuge in the Chilean region of Maule. Both routes include an English-speaking guide, trekking poles and a picnic snack of nuts, cheese and salami.
Beginners Hiking La Herradura Route
In this low-difficulty route, you don't need any previous experience, we'll enjoy beginners hiking route in a spectacular spot at the foot of the Andes mountain range.
We'll walk along the so-called La Herradura route, which will allow us to discover the paths of the muleteers. Their work, dedicated to the care of livestock during the southern summer, is essential in this part of South America.
Along the route, we'll also enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of yellow-hued hills. We may even spot some Chilean eagles soaring through the Andean skies.
Before returning to the starting point, we'll take a 30-minute break at the so-called 'vega Escondida' (hidden valley), located on the banks of the Estero Cajón de Gamboa stream.
Intermediate Hiking Mirador del Cubo Route
If you choose this option, for which no previous experience is required, you'll enjoy a trekking route of medium difficulty. On this 2-hour, 1000-metre (3280 feet) trek, which reaches a height difference of 300 metres (984 feet), we'll enjoy a beautiful view of the Teno river valley.
On this route, we'll have the opportunity to see the Chilean eagle in its morning flight or the Andean condor gliding over the mountain range. We'll also learn about the history of the Teno River Valley, which is closely linked to various milestones that marked the independence of Chile.
We'll continue our trekking route through the Andes to the famous Mirador del Cubo viewpoint, where we'll pause for half an hour to contemplate the Teno riverbed and the Planchón volcanic complex from a privileged vantage point.
