When the Fast & Furious franchise landed in London for its sixth movie, we were somewhat disappointed that they didn't call the UK's go-to hardman Vinnie Jones to fight Vin Diesel and The Rock.

But, it turns out that we could have had a universe in which Vinnie is actually a regular character in the Furious franchise. He told us that he almost had a character in the sixth and seventh films, but it was written out with rewrites. Dammit!

"I nearly did the last one," Vinnie told Digital Spy. "But who knows? You never know.

"Statham's been in the last two, so maybe they didn't want to mix it up too much, I don't know. With the rewrite they did, it didn't include the character I was gonna play."

Meanwhile, Vinnie has also revealed that he declined the chance to appear in the upcoming Snatch TV series, so we sadly won't get another outing for Bullet Tooth Tony any time soon.

"I did have a meeting with them about it and they explained it. But it's gonna be on Crackle TV, it's not gonna be on mainline TV and all that. It'll be what it is," he added.

"You're trying to turn a classic into a TV show, it's a very hard thing to do. As we saw with Lock, Stock. They tried to do it and it failed at the first obstacle.

"We discussed everything about it, and I just thought it wasn't for me. After being in the movie. We just had a nice hour and a half chat with the creators, where they're coming from, where I'm coming from, and shook hands and I wished them all the best."

Vinnie also spoke to us about rumours linking him with playing former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson in a movie about the life of Jamie Vardy.

"At the moment, they've called me and said, 'we're thinking of doing a Jamie Vardy film', so I said 'good luck, it's very hard'. Next thing is 'would you play Pearson?'. I said 'look, let's read the script and talk contracts', at this particular time it's absolute one guy saying to another guy, 'I'm gonna make a movie'.

"There's not even a script yet, there's far too much talk about this Vardy movie, so how can anybody commit to anything without seeing a script? It's just ridiculous. I think the hype has far overtaken the movie.

"What they've done is, there's no ducks in a row. They've got a bit of water, and they think the ducks are gonna walk into it. I love the story, I'm a fan of Vardy, so of course I'd look at the script. That's where we are."

Vinnie Jones was speaking at the launch of Mafia III, which is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
