Sofia Coppola marries rocker beau in Alaïa

And the bride wore lilac. When Sofia Coppola married longtime love Thomas Mars in southern Italy on Saturday, she shone in custom-designed Azzedine Alaïa.

The sleeveless lavender chiffon dress bears plenty of Alaïa trademarks, like a high neckline, shirring and a full skirt. Coppolas new husband, the Phoenix frontman, looked sharp (and proud) in a navy blue suit.

The couple wed at Palazzo Margherita, a Coppola family villa in Bernalda, Italy. Francis Ford Coppola walked his daughter down the aisle before witnesses including Johnny Depp and Star Wars creator George Lucas.

Bernalda Mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who officiated, couldnt have been more pleased that the starry duo chose to marry in village. If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn't have done it here, Chiruzzi told the AP before the wedding. [They] chose to do it here because it's here it's here that is beautiful.

Coppola was first rumoured to have asked Alaïa to create her wedding dress after attending the designers couture show in July. She and daughter Romy, 4, sat in the front row near Kanye West and Donatella Versace.
