Back at the end of 2010, Yamato toys released 1/3000 scale toy of the SDF-1 Macross from the 1984 movie Macross: Do You Remember Love? and it was all kinds of amazing. Well, now Arcadia is resurrecting the massive toy in Japan this November.

The original toy was 40cm in length and was fully transformable, as per the movie. It also sported the detailing and ARMD space carriers from the movie instead of the Prometheus and Daedalus “arms” from the TV series version.

Around the time of the original toy's release, I reviewed the Yamato version and it was glorious. Mainly because the SDF-1 rarely got the same kind of attention compared to the variable fighters and to have a massive toy released of arguably the best-looking version of the mighty battleship was amazing.

Now, Arcadia revealed this lovely new release of the SDF-1 at the recent Wonder Festival last weekend. However, Arcadia would not allow anyone to take photos of it.

The good news is that Arcadia has revealed all the new juicy details about this SDF-1 toy over on its site and it looks easily as good as I remember it.

The other piece of great news is that T-Rex is again involved in the re-design of this toy and that is always a good sign.

The only bad news is that this SDF-1 toy will be expensive and comes in at 36,800 yen before tax (or around $334). That is a lot of money for a toy, even one as big as this. That said, if you want to get a hold of the original Yamato toy then you will end up paying several times more than that. So the pricing here is definitely cheaper than if you went after the previous release.

In any case, retailers such as HobbyLink Japan are already taking pre-orders and if you are interested, I strongly recommend you get one now as I have a feeling that this November you will have a hard time tracking one of these monsters down.
