Charlie Hunnam wasn’t the only person to turn down the part of Christian Grey. Add British supermodel David Gandy to the ridiculously good looking list.
Gandy has revealed that he also turned down the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey, which was eventually won by Jamie Dornan, as well as a number of Hollywood roles over the years.
Famed as one of the world’s top male models, Gandy’s good looks, physique and large female following, outwardly at least, would have made him a great fit for the part of Grey. But in a wide-ranging interview with Square Mile, Gandy explained why he turned down the part as well as other roles in high-profile Hollywood blockbusters.

“I was offered Fifty Shades of Grey, 300: Rise of an Empire, Hercules, which a lot of people probably would have taken as actors, but I’m in the fortunate position where I like what I’m doing. I don’t feel the need to act,” he said.

On Fifty Shades specifically Gandy said: “It just didn’t feel right, in any way. And in my gut, it felt right to say no.”
Gandy, who as well as modeling, writes on style and designs underwear and loungewear, also said he had no regrets in turning down Hollywood. He didn’t rule out acting but said that he is keener on pursuing acting parts that he is interested in rather than those pitched to him.
“I know if you’re in a successful film, your status changes overnight. And I’m not saying I wouldn’t. I’ve read many parts that I’d love to play — things that I’ve chosen, though, not things that I’ve been sent. Critics and literary experts aren’t fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, but I respect it for what it is. But was it right for me? No.”
