Neverland, Michael Jackson’s onetime 2,700-acre fantasyland, is for sale.
Pricetag: $100 million.
The hilly property in the Santa Ynez Valley includes a six-bedroom house, 5,500-square-foot movie theater, a couple of lakes and a train station and railroad track.
Jackson bought Sycamore Valley Ranch in the late 1980s and renamed it Neverland after Peter Pan’s island home.
The King of Pop added a zoo and amusement park. They’re gone now, but a llama roams the property, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Jackson left the ranch after his 2005 acquittal on charges that he molested children at Neverland.
The gated estate is in Santa Barbara County, five miles north of the town of Los Olivos and 150 miles north of Los Angeles. The French Normandy-style main residence is some 12,598 square feet, says Suzanne Perkins, a Montecito-based real estate agent co-listing the property.
“The home is nestled between extensively landscaped gardens and a four-acre lake complete with a waterfall, incredible pastoral views to the south and majestic mountain views to the north,” her website states.
The seller is Colony Capital LLC, an investment company that bought the property in 2008 after Jackson defaulted on the $24.5 million he owed on the ranch.
Perkins and Harry Kolb of Sotheby’s International Realty share the listing with Jeffrey Hyland of Hilton & Hyland.
Perkins told Forbes the ranch would be a great site for a vineyard.
“No looky-loos,” she told a Forbes reporter. “I was a tour guide at Disneyland many years ago – and I don’t think we’ll be doing that.”
The agents are putting potential buyers through “extensive pre-qualifications,” and say they don’t want anyone purchasing the property to turn it into a Graceland-like attraction.
