Aside from her iconic music albums and her impressive acting range, Miley Cyrus is known as the queen of tattoos. From large, intricate ink to dainty little tats, the "Flowers" singer has them all. She's gotten tattoos in honor of her siblings, to immortalize her late pets, and even has matching ink with Pete Davidson and her ex, Liam Hemsworth.
The former Disney Channel star has also inked autographs and handwritten notes from her favorite musicians like Johnny Cash and Yoko Ono (celebs, they're just like us!).

Freedom
Ever since her breakup with husband Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus has been covering her already inked-up body in a ton of new tattoos. So far, she's gotten six new additions in two months, the most recent being this script on her knuckle. The tat reads "freedom," which is a nod to her single "Mother's Daughter."
"We Babies"
On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote their New Year’s Eve special, Miley and Pete Davidson revealed that they once shared matching “We Babies” tattoos. Miley still has the tattoo but Pete does not, as he’s in the process of removing all of his ink. They were inspired to get the tats after a taping of Saturday Night Live, where Pete and Miley appeared in a skit together as “rapping babies.”
“We were dressed as babies and everything seemed fun and fine,” Miley explained. Then inspiration struck. “At the end, our excuse for it all, you know, Larry David said, ‘What is going on?’ And we said, ‘We babies!’ And for some reason, we looked at each other and was like, ‘That’s a great tattoo,’” she said.
Pete called his “tattoo guy,” who arrived at 30 Rockefeller Center (where SNL is filmed) and gave Miley and Pete their new ink. Miley’s is on the inside of her left ankle, while what’s left of Pete’s is on his right wrist.
Motorcycle
As a touching tribute to her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley got a replica of his motorcycle inked on her shoulder. The super lifelike artwork is courtesy of Miley's go-to artist, Dr. Woo.
"I'm proud of u"
The same tattoo artist gave Miley this recreation of a hand-written note from Yoko Ono on her shoulder blade. The delicate lettering reads: "I'm proud of u, Yoko."
Rose
Miley's fourth new tattoo in October is probably her most delicate one yet: a simple, beautiful rose. While she hasn't said anything about the meaning behind the new ink, it seems like it could have been inspired by her partner at the time, Cody Simpson, who recently mentioned he's a romantic and he's been pulling out all the stops for Miley, including writing her a song.
Rock 'n' Roll Heart
Wow, this relationship really went from 0 to 100. Miley and then-boyfriend Cody Simpson got tattoos together after only a few weeks of dating. Miley's is a heart with an arrow that reads "rock 'n' roll heart," and Cody got a skull with a sickle. The two celebrated with some NSFW pics.
Ancient Symbols
In the midst of breakups and new boyfriends in 2019, Miley made time for her favorite activity: getting a tattoo. She added "ancient symbols found on rock walls" to her arm from celeb artist Dr. Woo. The "Slide Away" singer seemingly found the design on a trip to Utah.

In December 2020, Miley got "Mama Tried" and "Idolize Yourself" inked. Other words on Miley's arm include "Love Yer Brain," "Biewty," "Moo," "Cattitude," "Cold Blooded," "Beetle," and "Okie"”
"Just Breathe" on her rib cage
The words peeking out from under Miley's top were her first ever tattoo. In a 2010 interview with Harper's Bazaar, she shared that she got the tat when she was 17 to honor her late close friend and grandfathers. "I mean, breathing — that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing," she said. "And I put it near my heart, because that is where they will always be."
"Love" on her right ear
Miley got the word "love" tattooed on her ear back in 2010, to "block out all the crap that everyone throws into your ears." She explained to Access Hollywood, "[You're only supposed to hear the things coming from the people that genuinely love you."
A bunch on her right hand
On her right hand alone, Miley has at least seven tats. These include a heart, an evil eye, an alien head, a watermelon slice, a peace sign, a cross, and the words, "BAD" in red as a tribute to Michael Jackson's best-selling album. Her dad, mom, grandmother, sister, and brother also have a heart tatted somewhere on their hands. So sweet!
A dream catcher on her right side
The former Disney Channel star began sporting an intricate dream catcher tat in 2011. Miley's friend told People, "It’s a picture of the dream catcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters... The dream catcher is to protect them."
A tribute to her dog, Floyd and a naked woman on her left side
Next to her "Just Breathe" tattoo, Miley and her close friends got matching tats back in 2014 to remember her late dog, Floyd. The tattoo is a drawing of Floyd and the words, "With a little help from my fwiends." We're not crying, you're crying!
Just under Floyd tribute, she has a tattoo of a naked woman holding a tiny baby. Miley flaunted the ink while on vacay with then-boyfriend, Patrick Schwarzenegger in 2015.
An anchor on her right wrist
Back in 2011, Miley got this cool ink as a symbol of safety and reminder to stay grounded. According to Pop Star Tat, artist Fabio Satori designed the emblematic tattoo for her while she was on tour in Brazil.
A smiley face on her left ankle
This cute tattoo was actually done by her BFF Cheyne Thomas. In July 2014, the two gave each other matching smiley face tattoos on their ankles.
A skull on her right ankle
Miley and her ex Liam Hemsworth have a few matching tats together, and this tiny sugar skull is one of them.
"Rolling $tone" on the soles of her feet
To commemorate her first cover for music publication Rolling Stone. in 2013, Miley got "Rolling $tone" inked on the soles of her feet.
Theodore Roosevelt quote on her left forearm
In 2012, the singer debuted a tattoo featuring a quote by former POTUS Theodore Roosevelt. It reads, "so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat." Per the Huffington Post, Liam Hemsworth actually copied her tat a few months later, inking the previous line from the speech on his arm in the same script.
A moon, fish, and a tribute to Emu (her dog) on her left arm
Miley's left arm features a few small permanent drawings, including a crescent moon and tributes to her pets, Pablow (her deceased fish) and Emu (her sheepdog). The beautiful portrait of Emu was inked on by L.A tattoo artist, Dr. Woo. She also has a crescent moon and the logo of her nonprofit organization, the Happy Hippie Foundation inked in the surrounding area.
"Om," "Love Never Dies," "Wükong" and a cat on her left arm
In addition to the other tats on her left arm, Miley also has the "Om" symbol, a sacred Hindu reference, tatted on her wrist. The word, "Wükong" above the symbol honors her younger brother, Braison. According to an interview with Sunrise, it's her nickname for her bro.
She also rocks the words, "love never dies" on her bicep, as well as a cat head on her left elbow.
