Cyndi Lauper is most known for '80s pop hits “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time” and “True Colors” but she draws from classic country influences from her childhood on her new album “Detour," set for a May release.

The album is Lauper’s eleventh and features the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter's duets with country artists including Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson on country songs from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s.

“When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to,” Lauper said in a statement. “These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.”

Tracks include Lauper and Gill singing Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty’s “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,” Krauss and Lauper on Dolly Parton's “Hard Candy Christmas” and Lauper covering Wanda Jackson’s “Funnel of Love” and Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “I Fall To Pieces.”

“Detour” will be released May 6. Lauper is set to play Ryman Auditorium May 9. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster, 1-800-745-3000.
