I have Jason Statham pencilled in for the governorship of California around 2020. He's the star of this enjoyable and insanely frenetic action movie with all the nutritional content of a packet of crisps, directed by former admen Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Crop-headed Londoner Statham stars as the LA hitman who has been injected with a Chinese death serum, and the only way for him to stay alive is to keep his adrenalin up above a certain level: screaming, shouting, necking Red Bull, having sex in public, bloodily avenging himself on his would-be killers. Stuff like that.
The movie cheerfully rehashes the premise of Speed, and also, unless I'm very much mistaken, pastiches the elevator-mental-breakdown scene in Guy Ritchie's excruciating Revolver. Either that, or Neveldine and Taylor just had the same idea and did it a thousand times better. A guilty pleasure.
