Suri’s Self-Possessed Style

In the October issue of Vanity Fair, Maureen Orth takes a close and serious look at the relationship between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. And while we find their love story as gripping as the next person, it’s hard not to be diverted by the antics of their daughter, Suri. If the young Miss Cruise exhibits any trait, it’s a freespirited-ness and adult-thwarting whimsy that is nothing short of astounding at age six—a kind of self-possession that particularly informs her tastes in fashion. Suri Cruise marries faux-fur chubbies with pink-flower flip flops, favors equally leopard and watercolor-y florals, has a habit for fondly layering. . . luggage. She’s even been seen flipping through the pages of Vanity Fair, and striding down the street with a bottle of San Pellegrino. One never knows when preternaturally adult deportment will leave you thirsty.
