This Mercury Comet got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1962 Mercury Comet two-door sedan is a running project that is powered by a fuel-injected 302ci V8 backed by a four-speed automatic transmission and a Currie 9” rear axle. The car has been repainted in red, and equipment includes Centerline 15” wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a B&M gear selector, and an RCI fuel cell. A contoured dashboard and center console house AutoMeter instrumentation, a retro-style head unit, and Focal speakers. The glass and weatherstripping have been removed, and the interior shows wear and is missing components. Acquired by the Petersen Automotive Museum in 2016, this Comet project is now offered at no reserve with spare parts and a clean California title.

The car left the factory finished in Carnival Red (J), and bodywork was performed before a repaint in the current shade of red. The glass, weatherstripping, door locks, and trunk hardware have been removed. Exterior details include quadruple headlights and taillights as well as a chrome grille, bumpers, and side mirrors. The photos in the gallery were taken in July 2023.
