Mitzi’s Pinup Corner: Trisha and her 1962 Mercury Comet Dorothy

Meet Dorothy Von Fink and her 1962 Mercury Comet. She just recently became the President for the new Northern California Chapter of the Las Donas Car Club. You may also recognize her as Miss June in the new 2021 Mitzi & Co. Calendar. Here is a fun story on how Dorothy was born. It was the summer of 1997, I was a junior in high school and ready to get my first car. I had spotted a 1962 Mercury Comet, just up the street from my parent's house with a for sale sign in the window and instantly I was in love.

Granted, Dorothy (the name I gave the Comet) was only $200, a body, rolling chassis and beige when I bought her, but I still loved her and had a vision for her future. Starting from just a shell of a car allowed my father and I to build her the way I wanted. Eventually dropping in a 302 and all of the running gear to get down the road quicker than Dorothy had ever gone before in her lifetime. Flash forward to 2018... Inspired by customizing king Larry Watson, Dorothy has come a long way. I owe the stunning red panel paint job and flake roof to my very talented Fiancé, Kyle Martin. We both discussed a vision for the car and thanks to Kyle’s painting skills, he made Dorothy into what she appears to be today: a low flying, mild kustom. We’ve been through a lot together, Dorothy and I. Some might say that we grew up together- but, friends forever is what I say.
