It's tough times these days in the shrinking media business, with lots of journalists losing jobs and publications disappearing. But not for everyone, such as former presidential daughter Jenna Bush Hager, who's just landed a second gig, as editor-at-large for Southern Living.

Editor-in-chief Lindsay Bierman announced today that Bush Hager will contribute on a quarterly basis, reporting on influential Southerners and important places in the region, plus blogging for the "Daily South" blog and reporting from the CMT Music Awards in June. Her first contribution to the magazine's Paper Napkin Interview, with country star Luke Bryan, will appear in the March issue.

Southern Living has 16 million reader/consumers, and Bierman emphasized that the 30-year-old daughter of former President George W. Bush and granddaughter of former President George H.W. Bush, actually is from one of the confederate states.

"As a proud Texan, I grew up flipping through my mother's copy of the magazine, dreaming of the dishes," Bush Hager said in a statement. "I'm excited to interview influential Southerners, explore iconic places, and show how the next generation of women entertain."

Bierman said she was "instantly charmed by Jenna's style and charisma. Her Texas roots, passion for the South, and proven reporting chops make her a natural fit for the brand."

This is Bush Hager's second media job. She will continue as a contributing correspondent to NBC's Today show; another former presidential daughter, Chelsea Clinton, also has a reporting job with NBC.

Bush Hager and her twin, Barbara Pierce Bush, did not live full time in the White House when either their parents or their grandparents were in office; both were headed for college when their father was elected in 2000. Jenna did get married during her father's last year as president, marrying Henry Hager in May 2008 in a private ceremony at her father's ranch in Crawford, Texas.
