Fox's Rosewood is adding some star power, with Taye Diggs joining the cast in a recurring role.

Taye Diggs will play a doctor in a recurring role on Fox's 'Rosewood.'

Diggs (The Best Man Holiday, Private Practice) will join the first-season drama (Wednesday, 8 p.m. ET/PT), which stars Morris Chestnut, for a multi-episode story arc starting in November.

He will play Dr. Mike Boyce, "a world-renowned infectious disease doctor based in Miami and the longtime best friend of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood (Chestnut)," the city's top private pathologist, according to the casting announcement. When Boyce consults on a case, he "catches the eye of Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz)," much to the surprise of Rosewood, who uses his skills to help the Miami Police Department solve difficult cases.

'Empire' roars back with 16 million viewers

The casting move will reunite Diggs and Chestnut, who both starred in The Best Man Holiday.

Diggs recently finished a run as the title character in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and he appeared this summer in TNT's Murder in the First. He stars with Topher Grace in the upcoming film, One Shot.
