And suddenly, without any warning, rhyme, or reason, it’s divorce season. Tia Mowry filed for divorce from her husband of 14 years, Cory Hardrict. Emily Ratajkowski filed for divorce from her husband of four years, Sebastian Bear-McClard, in September. Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser have done it right in time for Gilmore Girls fall. And Gisele Bündchen appears to be getting closer to filing for divorce from Tom Brady (the supermodel and the quarterback have at least reportedly hired lawyers). There have been stories of potential divorces: Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney are working on it, as are Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin. And even old divorce stories—Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie—are generating new headlines

This can’t possibly be more than the usual number of divorces in a season, right? It’s just when you see all the celebrity names clustered together like that, you think the oft quoted 50% of marriages that end in divorce is getting closer to 60 or 70. Once you see one, you see them all and it can seem like a lot.

No matter, really. Even if there’s some kind of negative pandemic influence on the divorce rate, or we’re in a season of splits, all hope is not lost. Take Jerry Hall for example. She just finalized her divorce from Rupert Murdoch, and is now hanging out with her former partner Mick Jagger, he of the Rolling Stones himself. Those two annulled a marriage that was never officially official, but it was for all intents and purposes a divorce.

The picture is of her, Jagger, Jagger’s girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, and Jagger and Hall’s daughter Georgia May Jagger all sitting at a table together in Paris, the city of love and unconventional relationships. How modern. How hopeful.

Georgia May posted the photos on Sunday and they were captioned, “Some things you haven’t seen yet from [Paris] fashion week…” She walked in Vivienne Westwood, and sat front row with her mother at Saint Laurent. The whole family can come together and hang out, no problem and no worries. They can all smile genuine smiles, and have a chat and a coffee or a drink. All good. All fine. Even if you’re separating now, it gets better, this photo seems to say. It’s nice to remember in times like these, when it seems like there’s a divorce announcement every week, that these celebrities didn’t invent the act of extricating themselves from their long-term partners. Celebrities have been divorcing for so long, and still, life goes on.

Time isn’t a bad cure. Despite all these tabloid headlines, one day maybe you, Tom Brady, will have a hang with Giselle and her new beau in Paris, as your kid walks in a show. You’ll be all smiles, leaving the past in the past without even trying that hard. Not such a terrible thought, eh? If it’s good enough for Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, it must be good enough for Tom and Giselle.
