St. Louis Cardinals prospects report: Marco Gonzales and Jordan Walden pitch. Tommy Pham, Arturo Reyes and Darren Seferina win the weekend.

Gonzaga alums Marco Gonzales and Arturo Reyes pitch. Tommy Pham goes for extra bases. Jordan Walden continues his rehab. Paul DeJong and Darren Seferina spark the offense in Peoria. 2015 draftees Nick Plummer and Bryce Denton get older. Neither the Palm Beach team nor nature seem very happy about trading Rob Kaminsky.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Lots of crooked numbers on this weekend's scoreboards, with signs of life on the offensive side, particularly in Peoria. This was balanced by inauspicious starts by Marco Gonzales, Luke Weaver, and Luis Perdomo.

Friday, July 31 (Box Scores)

My birthday! 2015 1st-rounder Nick Plummer's 19th birthday! Harry Potter's birthday!

Memphis 1, OKC 6

Not much to see here. Xavier Scruggs doubled twice. Jordan Walden's rehab went well, with an unearned run on no hits, a walk and two K's.

Springfield 11, NW Arkansas 1

S-Cards scored 11 runs on just 9 hits, only two of which went for an extra base. Arturo Reyes had a nice outing. He pitched 8 innings with 7 K's.

Palm Beach 0, Dunedin 7 (7 innings)

Palm Beach 0, Dunedin 4 (7 innings)

Palm Beach took the day to mourn Kaminsky's trade, with just 7 hits vs. 3 errors on the day. Of the 5 runs scored off Luke Weaver in the first game, only 1 was earned. He had 4 K's in only 4 innings.

Peoria 4, Beloit 2

2015 draft classmen Paul DeJong (3 hits) and Harrison Bader (2 hits, SB) continued their good play for the Chiefs. Jack Flaherty went 6, with 7 strikeouts, giving up one run. The Beloit lineup seems to have been produced from a Lord of the Rings name generator, featuring players named Sandber Pimentel, Argenis Raga, Iolana Akau, and Tim Proudfoot.

State College 3, Lowell 9

Starter Landon Beck went 6 innings, with 9 K's vs. 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs allowed.

DSL Cardinals 1, DSL Mariners 7

GCL Cardinals 2, GCL Mets 5

Rough games for 2015 draftees Nick Plummer (0-4, 2 K's) and Bryce Denton (0-3, K).

Johnson City 2, Bluefield 1

A couple hits for Magneuris Sierra, who has rebounded after a rough start to the year in higher levels. It will be interesting to see if he finishes the year back in Peoria.

Saturday, August 1 (Box Scores)

2015 2nd-rounder Bryce Denton's 18th (!) birthday

Memphis 4, Round Rock 5

The game was lost in the 11th, with a run scored off Sam Tuivalala. Tommy Pham had 3 hits, with a double. Marco Gonzales went 6 innings and 94 pitches. He struck out 5, but gave up 4 runs, 3 earned. Miguel Socolovich had 4 K's in 2 scoreless innings.

Springfield 5, NW Arkansas 6

Patrick Wisdom doubled twice. Charlie Tilson stole two bases, but was caught once. He has 36 on the year, but it would be nice to see a better rate - he's been caught 14 times.

Palm Beach - rain

John Mozeliak and the rain gods conspired to bank innings in the arms of the Palm Beach rotation. The GCL Cardinals were also rained out.

Peoria 7,  Beloit 5

Darren Seferina and Oscar Mercado were both a triple short of the cycle, and each added a couple steals to their lines. Mercado is up to 41 steals on the year, and has his average up above .250. Who knows? DeJong had a couple hits, and Bader had a couple steals.

State College 4, Lowell 5

Another game lost late. Jhohan Acevedo had 2 triples.

DSL Cardinals 7, DSL Mariners 8

Johnson City 15, Bluefield 1

Sunday, August 2 (Box Scores)

Memphis 8, Round Rock 9

Big night for Pham, with a homer and a double. Alex Mejia had a couple hits and a couple steals.

Springfield 4, NW Arkansas 9

Aledmys Diaz is starting to show offensive life, with a homer and a double, but don't get your hopes up - he booted his 15th error and (to my eye) looks iffy at shortstop. Anthony Garcia homered.

Palm Beach 4, Dunedin 1 (7 innings)

Palm Beach 0, Dunedin 2 (7 innings)

Daniel Poncedeleon won the first game. Corey Littrell was the hard-luck loser of the second, giving up 2 unearned runs and getting no run support. The Palm Beach rotation is good, even with Alex Reyes' promotion and the Kaminsky trade.

Peoria 6, Beloit 8

Seferina got the triple he was missing Saturday. DeJong keeps hitting. Futures Game representative Luis Perdomo had a bad game, giving up 4 home runs en route to 7 runs. He had 8 K's.

State College 6, Lowell 3

Johnson City 4, Bluefield 2

I am new to the DFR. My name is Phil, and I'm a longtime lurker and occasional commenter at VEB and Future Redbirds (as Pretty_ugly). If this is too much or too little information, please let me know. If you have pet prospects that you'd like to hear news on, send those my way. If you have formatting tips for this weekend post, let me know. It's a lot of information to share. Nice to meet you.
